From its US flagship, J. Pritchard masters the country club aesthetic for a new era of pickleball.

June 16, 2025

Nimble enough to run in. Cool enough for the club. With a concise edit of trend-forward silhouettes and heritage charm, J. Pritchard is redefining court style. From striped tennis dresses to classic polos, the California brand successfully merges fashion and function, creating looks that excel both on and off the court.

“When we first launched, we had a pop-up at Fashion Island and now one year later we have our flagship store,” says co-founder Darren Gable. “We have really built a sense of community here in Newport Beach and are excited for what is to come.”

The brand’s new flagship store, opened in spring, honors J. Pritchard’s luxury aesthetic and rich pickleball heritage. J. Pritchard is named for the founder of pickleball, Joel Pritchard, who invented the sport in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, Washington. After falling in love with the game in 2020, ex-professional volleyball players (and twins) Steve and Darren Gable became fascinated by its origins and evolving culture. They observed that while pickleball apparel was available, something truly authentic was absent from the marketplace. With the Pritchard family’s blessing, a new brand was born.

Technically-advanced styles appeal to players looking to improve their performances, while also providing a certain chicness that’s spot-on for the court, the club, and beyond. The Marina tennis dress, for example, is a best seller for a reason, featuring a preppy V-neckline, green and white palette; it’s a must have for any burgeoning pickleball star. Or a first date.
