WET Design
It’s the landmark that can be heard before it is seen. Featuring choreographed wave-inspired swells and 30-foot bursts of whitewater, Iris Fountain mimics the hush of the Pacific Ocean. Created by WET Design in 1989, the kinetic sculpture pulses in a smooth rhythm—rising, rippling, and retreating. Today, it serves as a wayfinder of Iris Paseo, a corridor defined by emerging brands.
Did You Know?
The fountain sends a continuous wave that ripples outward from the pool’s center.
Swelling water produces tumbling whitewater that mimics the sound of the sea. Pause nearby and you can actually hear a gentle “ocean” hush.
This corridor of Fashion Island, first designed in 1989, now unites a likemind portfolio of brands that are youthful in aesthetic and sustainable in philosophy.
Fun Facts
Fountain jets soar more than 30 feet into the Newport sky.
The name "Iris" comes from the flower motif located at the base of the fountain's pool. It is deliberately subtle, as the design is only clearly visible when the water is still.
Fashion Island began as a plan for an enclosed mall called “Newport Town Center.”
Somewhere on-site lies a buried time capsule. The location and contents still a mystery.
In the end, it is still about the story.
